It’s another Swell Farmacy Spotlight and this time around we are featuring one of our amazing store managers. Meet Pete, veteran Swell employee (he’s been with us for almost five years!) and Swell Bell store manager!

How long have you been working at Swell?
Since August 2013.
How long have you been working in the cannabis industry?
The same year medical marijuana (MMJ) laws passed here in Arizona (2010). I began working at a hydroponics store called We Grow, which openly specialized in cannabis cultivation products and consultation.
What made you want to work in cannabis?
My personal experiences with the [cannabis] plant and the knowledge of its healing properties.
What did you do before you started working in cannabis?
I attended Phoenix College taking business courses and worked at a family-owned BBQ restaurant.
What’s your favorite part of working in the cannabis industry?
The positive atmosphere and knowing that I am doing something progressive and positive for the people of the world.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Chill, learn, skateboard, and practice yoga.
What’s your preferred method of medicating?
I prefer to medicate with a chalice [type of water pipe / bong]. I also prefer a freshly cleaned glass on glass piece.
What are your favorite cannabis strains/products?
My favorite [cannabis] strains are born of the Kush family (OG, Hindu, Bubba), Sour Diesel, and strains coming from the Cookie family. I really enjoy using edibles such as Uncle Herb’s gummies, Flourish products, and Hi Buddy Honey.
What advice do you have for people interested in getting an Arizona Medical Marijuana card?
I advise those interested in getting a medical marijuana card to consider the bigger picture of the cost of obtaining your card; it costs less than $1 a day over the course of a year [for an MMJ card]. I advise new patients to take their time finding a good clinic be evaluated for the card and to seek out a highly rated dispensary for a first-time experience that is as informational and educational as possible. Do as much research as you can to make more informed purchases and medicating decisions.
